SBS Insight Live Chat 14/7/2009

Below are some of the things I tried to get put onto the Live Chat forum that is available on the SBS Insight website after the end of the episode with some of the guests. As It is moderated I thought I'd try to see what interesting topics and questions I could bring up and possibly get answered, I laughed so hard when they got posted and some even got answered! You may notice I used many different names to avoid getting kicked off the site.

After having open heart surgery I became violently ill with flu like symptoms and went to get tested by my GP but she told me there was no need to test me at all even though two weeks later I was diagnosed with H1N1 virus, do most GP's have this view?

My temperature has risen to 41 degrees in the last half hour and I was recently watching the Back To The Future trilogy when the room became extremely dizzy, I'm 23 heavily obese and suffer from respiratory problems would I be at risk of H1N1 virus?

Professor Peter Collignon: If you've got a temperature of 41 degrees you need to be seen by your local dr or if there's any delay seen by a local hospital as such a high temperature is a sign that something more serious could be going on.

A.

Dr Kathryn Mainstone: Shinji, I would suggest that you seek medical attention now.

My daughter has diabetes and has very bad asthma and has be quite sick with what seems to be a flu over the past 2 days after competing in the South Australian swan racing championships, I sent her to the GP on the first day of the symptoms but our GP wouldn't test her do you think this has to do with faults within the heath sector not willing to test the public?

New music on a compact disc.

Yesterday I purchased the new Passion Pit LP titled Manners and I must say even though I haven't had a great deal of time to listen to it yet that it's a very good array of tunes. Buy it, listen to it and let me know what you think of it!

In other Scot related news I managed to find my iPod which has been lost in the black hole that is my house, after nearly two weeks without my portable music collection I'm very glad to have it back.

New stuff.

In response to my earlier post about the packages not arriving and having to pick them up from the post office.
I picked them up right on 5pm to my disgust, but the good news is that now I own 10 more Super Famicom games, a SNES universal adapter and a Nintendo DS.
Yes that's about it.

Just a matter of time.

I wake up this morning and look towards the clock to relise the postman will be coming by my house soon and I am awaiting some packages to arrive, so I wait around for the postman to drop by but the wait is long and boring so I decide to quickly jump into the shower in the mean time so I can tick that off my to do list for the day.
After getting out of the shower I notice there is a van outside of my house which looks like the one that drops stuff of for me sometimes so I rush into my room and grab some clothes to wear when I answer the door, so I wait and the person isn't leaving the van so I thought to myself that maybe I should walk out the front to check what's going on but before I could even attempt to do that the van drove off, the end result is me having to go to the post office to pick up my packages.
Grrrrrrrrr.

Sport or a thing people do when mentally ill?

The short list for worst sports of all time:
Badminton and well yeah badminton, it just seems to have a total lack of purpose. I wonder if it was created by a group of small men wearing tiny overalls in Parramatta?

Car banter.

So I was traveling back home from Sunbury yesterday and I had a very interesting idea come to mind about how when I become Premier of Victoria I shall make it mandatory for all holders of Victorian drivers licenses and probationary licenses to wear night vision heat seeking goggles at all times during the hours of 5.30pm and 5.30am during the daylight savings period of the year. If someone is found to have violated this law the penalty shall be instant loss of license, $5,000 fine and 17 years in gaol with the possibility to leave early with good behavior after 16 years and 11 months.

History Of Biro's.

Biro's were invented by John Biro in 1978.
John Biro was born in Preston and attended the local drama academy where he was banned for life due to being a eel in a human suit, some people discriminated against him because he was different.
During a power black out in mid June, John was carrying a ink well which he accidentally dropped into the nuclear reactor in his lounge room which created a writing implement "I shall call it a...... BIRO!!!!" John screamed until his left leg fell off.
John died 24 years later due to old age and a lack of hair.

NBL farewell, but what will it's predecessor be?

Australian basketball is getting a shake up at the national club level with the National Basketball League's existence coming to an end, but can the new competition turn around the problems that have appeared in the past? Sure this is a sport which has a high participation rate and a big flowing at grass roots level but something has gone wrong in the past with fans supporting the national league walking away and not paying attention to their once cherished clubs.

A major issue that has trampled Basketball Australia's attempt to resurrect a competition is Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane opting to not have representation for at least the first season of the new "NBL", but BA has the view that these teams may not want to be in the the debut season and may possibly have no future in their competition ever again. Possibly The South Dragons and the Melbourne Tigers have made wise business choices for the existence but with BA saying they want at least one Victoria club and this could be from an Victoria state league or state league itself represented maybe the door is shutting on both of the previous NBL clubs reentering the competition again.

The final question to all fans, staff, players and administrators is how viable is a national competition with only 7 clubs?

Lot's of stuff I forgot to post on here but now it's right below.

Okay recently I have added a few consoles to my ever growing collection and those are a Sega Mega Drive II, Dreamcast (Sega seemed to drop their name from this console due to the failure of the Sega Saturn) and a Nintendo 64.
All of these consoles work fine except for the Dreamcast which is annoying, it only sends out audio with no video when plugged into a television. The Mega Drive II was a bargain it only cost me $2 on eBay with no cables, while the Nintendo 64 came with all the cables, one controller and a copy of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time.

In other news I have been on the bus a few times in recent weeks and I tend to be finding myself listening to Taking Back Sunday's album Louder Now whilst in transit.
This post isn't as long as I thought it might have been mainly because I am running out of idea's to write about but one thing to finish on is check out Jamie T's new single Sticks 'N' Stones, it's so damn catchy I just adore it and to be honest Jamie T is a pretty good artist after all.

Christine

The main point of this blog is to tell the millions of readers out there about a person whom I follow on here reading her blog and that's Christine, she tells many ripping yarns and provides photographs along side of them to give you that extra insight that certain blogs just don't do.
Check it out you know that you want to I mean c'mon what else would you be anyway? Maybe drinking soup out of the tin can with the sharp edges cutting your lips?

Sitting.

Today I choose to travel on public transport to do some shopping and I secured a seat right up in the back right hand corner of the bus where I listened to Bloc Party's latest album Intimacy in full, it's a very good LP I recommend listening to it if you haven't done so already.
Anyway there's a place where I like to sit by myself and just observe things, it's surrounded by a group of empty shops which is good for a nice feeling of quiet capitalism. I noticed that a new arcade is opening upstairs from where I like to visit but I hope this doesn't create a new flow of people into my special area.

Rant.

It appears that in the city I live in and other places within Victoria have decided to introduce a new electronic card system to take over from ordinary tickets you get when you get on the bus from the driver, I personally see no real point in and it must be costing the Victorian government massive amounts but only time will tell if this will be seen as a success.

The wonders of technology

Recently I have been purchasing a lot of items off eBay mainly to feed my video game obsession, anyway I bought a couple of things off a Swedish seller and sometimes you get an e-mail saying something like "thanks I'll mail it out today", but this time the person gave me a very very long story about how he found out the Swedish postal company is not very reliable apparently but he'll refund me in cash or send out another identical product if it gets lost in the mail, I have come to the conclusion that the Swedish are some of the nicest people in the entire world.

Neon genesis, a new beginning.

Here I am with my new blog, I shall be posting anything on here that I find to be interesting that occurs in my life varing from riding on the bus, listening to new music, playing video games, buying nice clothing and the many social aspects of life.
I might do some music reviews of LP's and/or EP's as it may be mainly due the reason I'm quite the avid music listener with a building collection.
Anyway that's about all I can think about writing for this right now so keep posted!
